Internship Job Title: Assistant to Development Director
Background
I found my internship through personal resources. While I was searching through possible internship opportunities, I kept in mind that I would love to work in a school setting. City Year is a widely known, non-profit organization that works primarily with children in inner-city schools. City Year not only recognizes, but combats dropout rates in these schools by mentoring, tutoring and other one-on-one or group activities that promote learning. The true problem is not that these children don’t possess the skills to succeed... it is that they are unaware of their ability. City Year makes strides in showing these children how capable they are of graduating.
I chose this internship primarily because I wanted to be part of the cause. I hope to acquire knowledge that will take me far past college and into my career.
